The Energy Security Committee has been established within the Azerbaijan Industrial Safety Association (AISA) to strengthen activities related to energy security and sustainability across industrial enterprises.

Suleyman Majidli, an engineer and entrepreneur with extensive international and local experience in the energy sector, has been appointed as the head of the newly formed Committee.

The Energy Security Committee will serve as an expert platform focused on energy security, energy resilience, critical energy infrastructure, and the safe management of modern energy systems within industrial facilities.

The Committee's primary objective is to advance the approach to energy security in the industrial sector, support the mitigation of existing technical risks in energy infrastructure, promote technical strategies aligned with international standards, and contribute to the creation of a new industrial energy security ecosystem through public-private sector collaboration.

The Committee's core areas of activity will include fostering an energy security culture within industrial enterprises, implementing risk-based management of energy infrastructure, enhancing the reliability of backup energy systems, and adopting modern monitoring and control practices. It will also focus on the safe integration of renewable energy and energy storage systems, alongside supporting the development of an industrial energy security ecosystem that complies with international standards.

Suleyman Majidli, the newly appointed head of the Energy Security Committee, brings over 15 years of professional experience in electrical and energy engineering.

Born on September 25, 1991, in Masalli, Suleyman Majidli completed his secondary education at High School No. 9 named after Namiq Mammadov and the Baku Private Turkish Lyceum. In 2008, he was admitted to the Electrical and Electronics Engineering faculty at Middle East Technical University (METU), one of Turkey's most prestigious higher education institutions.

He began his professional career in Turkey's electrical equipment manufacturing sector, working as a quality control engineer and SCADA engineer. Later, he served as a cost control and planning coordinator for major construction and electromechanical projects in the Russian Federation. Upon returning to Azerbaijan, he held various positions within the energy sector, gaining comprehensive expertise in energy project management, energy supply for industrial enterprises, energy solutions, and business development.

He also served as the Azerbaijan representative for Aggreko, one of the world's leading energy solutions companies.

Subsequently, "ENERGAZER," a company founded by Suleyman Majidli, grew into a prominent local engineering firm specializing in energy audits, energy efficiency and ESCO projects, energy monitoring and SCADA systems, reactive power compensation, renewable energy engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), as well as engineering-consulting services and the development of sustainability strategies.

Sharing his thoughts on the appointment, Suleyman Majidli stated:
“At a time when global energy systems are undergoing rapid transformation and energy security and sustainability are taking on strategic importance, the establishment of the Energy Security Committee under AISA is a crucial step. Our goal is to contribute to the implementation of leading international practices in energy security within industrial enterprises, the development of risk-based management approaches, and the enhancement of energy infrastructure reliability.

Energy security is no longer merely about the uninterrupted supply of energy; it is also a fundamental element of operational resilience, economic efficiency, and the competitiveness of enterprises. Through this Committee, we will work collaboratively with government agencies, industrial enterprises, engineers, academia, and international partners to shape a modern energy security ecosystem in our country.”

Suleyman Majidli also expressed his gratitude to AISA's leadership for their support of the initiative to form the Committee:
“I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Association's leadership, primarily the Chairman of the AISA Board of Directors, Orkhan Khalizzade, and the entire team, for their support in creating this committee, which aims to systematically advance energy security and sustainability for industrial enterprises in our country. I am confident that this platform will make a significant contribution to forging new partnerships, applying leading international practices, and strengthening the resilience of our industrial enterprises.”

In the near future, the AISA-established Energy Security Committee plans to initiate activities aimed at drafting methodological documents on energy security, organizing awareness campaigns and training programs, proposing initiatives for energy risk assessment in industrial enterprises, studying international best practices, and fostering the development of public-private sector cooperation.
